The sun sets on another day…
The sun was out today for a little while, trying desperately to melt anything left, and in the process, warm some of us well. the sun really didn’t know it was doing anything, mainly because it is a blob of fusion plasma sitting in a big hole in the center of the solar system, but it was a hero just the same.
My father had an idea a long time ago. I wrote a little about it here. The idea was a group of people who would help other people without wanting, needing or trying to get any type of recognition. I was thinking about it today, and there are lots of heroes out there doing the same in some ways. True, there are always a few bad eggs, but there are people who are truly trying to make the world better for no other reason than to make it better, and there are people who try to help other people simply because it is the right thing to do.
I have been in situations before that I felt compelled to do, and have done for others. I would like to think I do it for no other reason than to do the right thing, and as I walk through this good night I will redouble my efforts to be that helpful person, not because of how it will be said, but in spite of it, in fact, independent of it.
So how about you. Are you that person who will do the right thing even if no one knows? I hope so. Think about it, if we all realized life is finite, maybe with only 29000 sunsets in it, doesn’t it make sense to spend as much time helping people as we can just for the sake of helping them? I would like to think so.
So as the sun sets on another day. If someone is in true need, help them. Not because you will get money or be paid back, but because it is the right thing to do. If someone is not in true need, I think you will know. Find a way to make every day a sunset of a hero. Be that hero for just one person, even if they don’t know who you are.
