Crossed swords…

The sun sets on another day…

there are time sin your life that you have to face conflict. Each day, as the sun sets on the west the conflict is obvious. The darkness and light will fight for control, and the outcome is never in doubt, after all, there will be darkness at night, and light during the day. It is, however, a very pretty conflict.

For us there is no such thing as clear conflict. Our conflict can arise from a multitude of reasons, and often, no side will hear the other well enough to understand, or even be able to respond. So conflict continues. When swords cross, there is rarely a winner, and compromises and collaborations sometimes do not point out that by definition, someone or both sides loses.

Perhaps we should not think about winning or losing and instead should consider conflict another way. When two swords cross, perhaps it is time to cut cake? Perhaps there is something yummy we can focus on that will allow us to more effectively see an others point of view and not be so stubborn with our own, or perhaps we will just watch the sunset together and enjoy the moment.

So as the sun sets on another day, crossing swords can be a difficult situation. Avoid it if you can, embrace it if you must, but realize that it rarely has an amazing outcome. In the end, it is pretty much like Ghost Busters, we should just not cross the swords, or the streams unless we have to to win. It just makes sense.

Sleep sweet, love life, and laugh when you can…
