The sun sets on another day…
The storm rolls in at first silently, and then suddenly with a power and fury that is not easily imaginable. There is a power and a grace to the storm and that power and grace can either be terrifying or awe inspiring. The sunset is there. In the horizon there are pink clouds. The sky blends as the sunset desperately tries to shine through. In the end, for the moment the storm wins, or does it?
At some point or another most people see storms in their lives. These can be very small storms that we can weather quite easily or very large storms that tackle us with their fury. We do not get to choose the storms we face but we sometimes create the storms that fall upon us.
I have found that often my storms are of my creation. Situations or solutions that once seemed to be the correct path can easily turn on you. It saddens me to say but sometimes even the people you trust the most fall short of their own expectations, let alone ours. Many of us have faced these difficult situations and there is no playbook for them, only a moment to react to and reslve.
I know, I know. This sounds like it is depressing or looking at the half empty side of the glass. It is not. Remember I said earlier that the storm wins. There is a caveat to that and it is simply keep pushing through. If you watch cartoons it is “just keep swimming”. If you read comics it is “I will continue until I win and nothing will stop me”. And if it is Superman it is I will cheat death a dozen ways come Sunday because I can. The simple statement that we should walk away with today is “I can.” Not because any one of us, myself included, is any stronger or any more committed than anyone else but because if we believe we can we will find a way and isn’t that the best way to see the world? Isn’t the loss of a Sunset and the knowledge it is still there a great thing? If we keep pressing we will see the next sunset and the sunset beyond but we have to keep pushing each and every moment and looking at where we are now in order to overcome the storms and suddenly be back in that beautiful sunset.
So as the sun sets on another day, don’t despair. Remember that in the face of nearly anything “you can”. You can overcome the feelings that beat you down. You can find a way when no one else thinks there is a way. You can believe in people even when you shouldn’t. In simple words , you can. Keep pressing forward each and every day no matter what.
Sleep sweet, love life, and remember you can…
