The five second rule…

The sun sets on another day…

The sun was everywhere today and as I worked I considered the list that has me writing right now. It is a list of items to a daughter, but I am looking at it towards my children and maybe everyone could look at it for all of their children. Well, maybe. At the end of this rather long rant that could take weeks, I will post the revised list and we will see.

The message for today: ” 5-second rule. It’s just dirt. There are worse things in a fast food cheeseburger.”

When I saw this message I thought it was funny and I laughed pretty hard. There are few people I know that have not eaten dirt or worse in their lives. Then I considered the multitude of people who now obsess over everything and try to be so clean, we don’t build immune systems. Maybe this does need to be said. If you drop it, it is not a waste, pick it up and be done with it, yum yum. Now, if it is an open face peanut butter sandwich in a fertilizer plant, maybe not, but you have got to use some judgement. Maybe the world needs a little more blood sweat and tears, and a little less white lily skin where never a germ has landed. Who knows, what I do know is the message is right, if you read the labels on some of the things we eat, well, it is more than scary. So maybe we can give cleanliness a break sometimes and eat that candy bar that feel, or a lot of other stuff and stop worrying about germs so much, who knows, it might just make you healthier.

So as the sun sets on another day, take five seconds and enjoy them, and if you drop something in those 5 seconds, well, enjoy that too. Life is full of super moments and missing out on the last mint because it hit the floor shouldn’t be one of them. Enjoy it and live a little, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and laugh with me for a while…
