The sun sets on another day…
The sun was swallowed by clouds, but my heart is warm as my children are with me. No matter how hard the task, how deep the pain, how powerful the obstacle, children make the world a better place. Well, usually they do, at least mine do to me.
I have spent many days going through a list which I will put to pen at the end. A friend posted it for their daughter and I am upping or revising it as I see it. Today’s message is: “Never lie to yourself.”
If there is any advice that sits on the top of the list, this is one. Be true to you. That doesn’t always mean being so start raving honest to everyone else that they run and poke their eyes out, but it does mean you can be true to yourself, and in the process perhaps understand a little about you. There are lots of things we tell other people, and hopefully most of them are spot on, but when you start lying to yourself, well, it can be a game changer.
I had a friend once that was so sure of themselves on so many things, and always told about it, but in the process they left out key details. They tried hard to knock others down to make themselves look safe, or better. In the end how can that affect them in a positive manner. In the end it became obvious to a lot of people, and they apologized. You can’t make yourself a good person or a bad person simply by believing it is who you are. You cannot make yourself tall, or short or small or large either, you can only be who you are so it is important to know who you are and be that person. In the end, well, in the end you have to answer to yourself first.
So as the sun sets on another day, and the storms slowly roll in, take a moment. Consider yourself, and remember that you can be true to you. Let go of those things you are holding, and find a way to never lie to yourself. Live, Laugh, Love, and skip the other parts. Be happy with others, and live the best day ever, today, no matter what.
