The sun sets on another day…
Tonight’s sunset was again muffled by the clouds and a threat of rain, but it did not matter as I enjoyed the moment with friends and family. There is so much possible if you just open your eyes and see it.
I am constantly in awe at the number of people that succeed. Of course some of them are unique and their success as much surprise to them as it is to anyone else, but most people who succeed have on thing in common: they let nothing slow them down. I am pretty sure everyone agrees that just makes sense. In reality we have a choice every day, to be more or not to be more.
I know, I know, I think I may drive some people crazy with the whine, pine, define that I threw out a long time ago, but it is true. We need to never whine about the past, or pine about the future, but instead define ourselves in the present. It is a good present and is full of possibilities, and if we take a moment, anything is possible if we can just be more. When I was a kid I was told many times that “can’t never did nothin” and it pushed me to avoid “can’t” and “won’t” and “maybe” and all those things that hold people back, instead I always wanted to be more. Today, on National Writers Day I challenge you to be more.
Be more to your friends, and be there for them when they need you. Be more to your family, and be that family member that holds things together. Be more for your job and make it more than a job, make it a mission. Mostly, be more for yourself. Sure, there may be a thousand things trying to hold you down, but you can be more than any of them, you can be more, and in the process, become more each day. Seem impossible? Ask those people you look up to, and see if they didn’t decide each day to be more.
So as the sun sets on another day we all have an opportunity each day. We can keep going on a path we know, or we can define a new path. The new path can take us a lot of places, but it all starts with us. I know we all can be more if we only try, so try and show the world that you are more. Show the world how special you can be and remember yourself along the way, no matter what.
