The enchanted now…

The sun sets on another day…

The sunset was whisked away by a cloud bank waltzing in on the horizon. There was little to do but watch the light dance until it was no more, held fast by the impending night.

I was laughing to myself while reading today and thinking about the movie “Spaceballs”. There is a part in the middle of “Spaceballs” that tickles me every time, it is when the Spaceballs are looking for Lonestar (a main character) and use a video tape to find him by scanning through. The theory is movies go to video so fast that it is already done even before it is done. In the center of this bit they look at now, and as they look back at the camera it shows on the video, and the script plays for a few seconds on when, now, and then. When will then be now, soon! Yes, you should watch it if you have not, and just laugh a little at the silliness.

So, we look at now, and we look back and forth and try to figure out when is now, and we are not sure with now, why? Because we are thinking about then. We need to stop thinking about then, and think about now. When will we need to look at then, when it becomes now. When will then be now? Soon! Ick, the thought of it can make you as crazy as Mel Brooks.

There is a certain logic in it though if you think about it, well, like I was thinking about it. We spend a lot of time looking for ways to plan for tomorrow, what about now? What about taking time with a child and playing a  game, now. What about laughing at a dumb joke, now. What about holding someone specials hand, now. What about now. You know, then will be then, soon, so can we just deal with now and let then come to us?

It is a thought, so enjoy this post now. Or laugh at it now then laugh at it then, whichever works works for me, now and then.

So as the sun sets on another day, what are you doing now, umm, err, besides reading this. Take a moment and enjoy now, because soon it will be then and now will be gone. Laugh a little, play a little, and love the days and nights as you can, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and enjoy it now…
