Torn edges…

The sun sets on another day…

High above the sunset looked down upon us and smiled. It will be back, but for now we know the true power of the north wind.

My son had a blanket when he was growing up. We always were trying to get the blanket away from him. It was ratty on one side and torn on the other with his constant wear and tear on it. It was rare he did not have the blanket close, and he usually had it on his arm, in house mouth, or was just dragging it around. On one side there would be people who would talk all the time about how bad that blanket was and to get rid of it, on the other, the blanket had been trough a lot, and had seen the struggles my son went through, up close and personal. It was almost a part of him.

There are a lot of things in our lives that look like they have tattered edges. In fact, we may look like we have tattered edges from time to time.  It is important to remember that those tattered edges showed us a little more about ourselves, a little more about the world, and made us a little stronger. Now, don’t get me wrong, we had to wash the blanket from time to time, it got bad, but we could and when it came out, it was clean and tattered. Sometimes it is a good idea to wash away some of the stains, step forward, and move on. Maybe tattered edges aren’t so bad. I would like to think they show the depths of what we have been through, and let others know we are survivors.

All this from a blanket? Well, yeah.

So as the sun sets on another day be proud of your tatters and scars. Be proud of who you are every day. There is truly only one you, and the you that you are is a great you. Feeling tattered, wash up, clean up, and move on. Your tatters show it, you will overcome, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and look at the stars…
