The sun sets on another day…
I find I have a tendency to think too much. Sunset was amazing, and as it passed I was lost in thought and a sunset. An interesting place to be.
I was once told by a girlfriend at the end of a relationship how much time we had wasted together. She gave me a recount of time talking on the phone, hanging out, and generally spending time together. (Pre cell phone days) As she was talking I considered what she said, and smiled, nodded, and let her go.
Time is the most precious thing we have on this planet. How do we spend it? Let me count the ways. Well, I won’t but it was dramatic. I mean to say when we consider time, how are we spending it, and is it worth it?
In my first marriage my now ex wife spent all her time focused on everything but me. She noted often that someday we would spend time together and it would be ok, but I rapidly found someday never came, and I spent most of my time alone. It wasn’t that I wanted to be alone, it was that there was not another choice. We all can decide to be a fantastic person and spend time with people, but is it what we want, or they want? I spent time with my ex-wife going to antique malls, and doing things she wanted to do only to have anything I wanted to do set aside or explained away. In my opinion this is why we ended up apart.
Consider for a moment, if there are 168 hours in a week, how does your time work out? 56 hours for sleep? More? 40 hours for work? More? 21 hours stuffing our face? More That leaves about 50 hours. Do yours passions take up the majority of that? What portion do you give to you? To others? If you are in a relationship, how much time do you focus on each other, or how much do you focus on TV, text, memes, snapchat, facebook, or one of a hundred other items. Just think about it, it is all I ask.
So as the sun sets on another day, imagine time was unlimited. what would you do? Now take that away, why oh why aren’t we exploring that level of time, and all the things in between. Find your passion and spend time on it, and make your days amazing, no matter what.
