Why miss another?

Mind map…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was a glowing ball wrapped in saran wrap covered by wax paper and sprinkled with glitter. The sky sparkled and I enjoyed the light show even though it was short.

I was talking to someone today about mind mapping. If you’re not familiar with the process it really looks like a series of roots coming off of the tree. You start with a high level thought and as you build you add thoughts that relate to other thoughts and very rapidly realized that one thing or another does not belong in the same path and continue to create different paths until suddenly your thoughts become more cohesive mind mapping is a great way to figure out a lot of things about one item. In the end it turns into a giant conglomeration that actually defines that item. It’s kind of fun.

The great part about mind mapping is you always discover something that you didn’t remember as the map grows. Even though it starts from a fairly linear idea one item grows into another which grows into another and suddenly you’re remembering little pieces of detail that you didn’t even no you had still in your mind. It is why I like to use mind mapping with computer systems because sometimes programmers and Hardware specialists don’t always align and don’t think about some of the little things that were put in place.

And then there is the larger picture if you mind map just about anything you can start to see answers. If you mind map politics or relationships or a dozen other things as the map grows and the details become more prevalent you will see past what you believe and somewhere you might find the truth. It’s not always true but it is often true.

Today I mapped out a series of processes that made me smile in the back of my mind. As I identified one item and another it opened the possibilities to far far more and in the end I saw a map that was far more complete than I thought that I had. It didn’t really matter the positives or the negatives, What mattered was that I saw a better picture that made everything seem more positive. What more can you ask for?

So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you can mind map your world into a cohesive bunch of stuff. I hope that you know that we are all far more than just one thing but instead a series of interrelated items that are far more complicated than any mind map. I hope you realize each day how special you are and how wonderful life can be just because you’re in it.

Sleep sweet, love life, and map it out…
