The sun sets on another day…
The storm shattered the sky, then color ran out all over the place, it was quote awesome and maybe a little more.
I find myself thinking about a long long time ago. No not in another galaxy but still, long ago. When I was little I was constantly wanting to be bigger. I remember when I was in preschool I always wanted to be a first grader because they were much cooler. Every single year I always found myself looking forward to what I could do if only I was a little older. It just kept coming. Finally I grew up. And as I did suddenly I realized my mistake.
It wasn’t all my fault. Because of my family situation I was called upon to be an adult far earlier than I should have been. I made the choice to do that. I could have been a rebel, or a problem, or something else. Instead I chose to be someone who I thought was helping. That’s not a bad thing.
Be who you are. Everyday is an opportunity to be you. Not the you from tomorrow or 5 months from now but the you that you are. Push every moment to be your best moment don’t wish away The Spectacular times you could have right now.
Fortunately I learned this relatively early but unfortunately there was time lost. I know it is hard but as parents and guides to others we often say things like someday you will be a doctor or a lawyer or something else, never realizing that what they should be right now is themselves.
Funny isn’t it, many people are so focused on tomorrow that they lose the gift of today. Many people are so focused on what could be that they sometimes Miss what is.
So as the sun sets on another day, I hope you find the path that works for you. If you have kids, I hope you find a path that works for them. Mostly I hope you realize that everyday is a special day, no matter what.
