The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was full of fire and excitement and the setting sun went down on a day of positive excitement.

I watched people all morning as they came and went on a mud run. Each of them positive, powerful, and full of purpose the cross in triumph, in praise, or in sheer willpower to make it to the end. I was particularly impressed with the 70 year old man crossing the finish line covered in mud and smiling all along the way.

It is with this power and determination that we should approach every day. Not as an obstacle course but as a series of events that we overcome easily, and celebrate as the sun sets. What better finish line than a sunset to weigh the wonderfulness of your day. What better place than a sunset to celebrate yourself.

Take a breath, keep moving forward and find the path to make your day the most amazing day possible. I believe in you, but it is more important right now that you believe in you and all of the things you are. After all, we are all special in our own way and we should celebrate our power all we can.

So as the sun sets on another day, be powerful. Be aware. Be that person that crosses the finish line knowing it was a struggle but you never gave up, and along the way be who you are, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and power up…

Keep feeling…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was illuminating as the sky was shattered with shard of white light. I watched and smiled as the clouds danced between and played gleefully on the horizon.

I giggled when I was writing this post. Giggling is a lot of fun and it is very telling when you can giggle about yourself as I did. You see, I was going to write about something with a lyric from a song in it, and found that I had been wrong for years about what it said. I giggled some more as I read the lyrics and laughed.

The song went the same place without my involvement and the depth of feeling is right there. The depth of a lesson learned, and a lesson lived. What is it? Easy. Keep feeling fascination, passion burning, love so strong, looking, learning, moving on.

Life is not a destination, it is a journey, and every day we should press our envelope to do more, learn more, love more, and if possible make a difference. A song from forever ago, I got the same lesson and did not really know the words.

So as the sun sets on another day, we should all be fascinated with our days. With each moment we move forward. With the passion we feel and more. This is a great day, and as the sun sets, let’s just get moving on, no mater what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and learn our fantasies…

And still the wind…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was more than spectacular, more than fantastic, it was, well, no words, hmm, it was just wowsers.

This afternoon I was walking in the yard and looking at trees and work that will have to be done this year. There is work, and some of it is pretty hefty. As I did so I thought about the world, and all the conflicts people are going through, then about the numerous people I know and their opinions about this that and the other, and then about the garden. Yes, my mind was wandering.

When I stopped and just considered the wind blew and I reveled for just a moment in the crisp air, then got a little cold from it. I laughed.

Pretty easy.

When everything is said and done all of the trivial items that are the focus of parts of our days are just that, trivial. In the end it will pass and still the wind will blow. Yes, there are things that affect us directly and those are pretty horrible sometimes. We have to deal with those and move on often. What we don’t need to do is consider all the things we fixate on that have no effect on us. When we do, perhaps it is time to let the wind blow.

For everyone this is personal, but consider well that a great many things in our life need to be addressed daily, and there are a lot that don’t. With that in mind consider your journey and spend your time wisely. Maybe you can find a new way to address your daily life, and in the process remove some stress, and enjoy your day a little more.

So as the sun sets on another day, no, I’m not going to spell it out this time. Instead consider your path and realize that some things are well beyond your control, and perhaps some things will never have an effect on you. With that in mind breathe, enjoy the time you have, and make your day the best you can based on your needs, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and what was that you say?

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was, pleasant. The clouds wafted overhead but the warmer air made the evening so much more than winter, I stood outside for a moment and watched the clouds and was at peace.

In Ancient Egypt the scientists of the time believed the heart was the center of thought and soul. They had tested in animals how things worked and came to the conclusion that the brain was not as helpful. Greeks took this a little further and even suggested the brain was just an organ to protect the heart and keep our mind, our being, and our soul safe.

We carry on to some level as we celebrate the heart as much as the brain and all the wonderful things it can do. We center love in the heart still, and passion, and the things that involved feeling even though we know it is all from the brain. Recently doctors linked grief and more to the heart. We are prisoners of this magnificent ancient belief.

As I consider the depth of my heart and the people around me I often wonder how the bonds of trust, friendship, passion, and love are born. It follows that this is a simple reaction of electrochemical responses in limbic system of the brain and as the amygdala processes we find emotion and more. If it were so easy.

I have found that these feelings are far more complex than we give them credit for , and the laws of attraction are more guidelines and the power of feeling is more than just a simple equation or combining of cells, it is the essence of intensity for many, for some, it is not.

My question is easy and for you to consider. What makes you the person you are? Is it the feeling of success you get when you accomplish something new or is it the passion you feel when you hold someone’s hand? Is it the number of things you have collected or the number of hearts you have touched? Is it the simple task of interacting, or the complex task of letting go and feeling pure passion wash over you? Or it is all of that and more?

Consider it for a moment, but as you do consider how you want to achieve in this world. Do you want to exist, or do you want to rock the world every moment you can.

So as the sun sets on another day, take a moment and consider it all. Realize that you are the center of you. Whether your heart drives you while your brain cools it down or your brain drives you while your heart keeps it alive find the things that make you real to yourself, consider them well, and live. Don’t just exist, live with all your heart, soul, brain, mind and more, no matter what.

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was going to be striking. Then that dern rainy cloudy stuff rolled in for the night. Ahh well, life is good.

Years ago I put together a printed book by using a brand new state of the art copier with center stapler and all the toys. If was a test for me and this 150 page books was “Slices of a Life”. It contained my poetry and short stories and was a representation of my writing. I am pretty sure I didn’t give it to anyone, but I had a few copies made and read them to myself every once in a while.

Fast forward a lot to today. This morning at 5:38 I finished going through the editors notes and corrections to “Another Slice of Fear”. This will be the second in my Slice of Fear series and one of a series of Slices of X.

Why? I enjoy short stories and poetry as much as I do writing full books and am occasionally contribute to many different anthologies. I have reset my routines and am now back to moving several projects forward in a more methodical manner. “Another Slice of Fear” is just the first. Several novels will be next but along the way I am adding to “A Slice of Fantasy”, “A Slice of Happiness”, “A Slice of Mystery”, “Another Slice of Passion”, and “A Slice of Tomorrow”.

Sound like fun? Watch for “Another Slice of Fear” to kick it all off. Waiting on cover final discussions now. This will be fun!

So as the sun sets on another day, find your passion, make it real, then fight for it daily. We have the power to do anything we put our minds to, within reason. Stretch reason a little and be the best you that you can be, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and read “A Slice of Fear” (The first one)

Truth or dare…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was spectacular as spring is trying to push its head into our moments. Crimson shards of happiness splashed across the horizon, and in a moment were gone, sparkled across it all as a memory for us to enjoy.

There was a movie at one time called Big Fat Liar. I know, kids movie, a little silly, and maybe a lot of fun for some and not as much for others. The end of it all has a simple message “The Truth isn’t overrated.”

Truth is an interesting concept. Some people have their truth, others have another truth and the truth truth is somewhere in the middle. I have always been fascinated by truth. Well, truth, and justice, and all that. It is a telling concept and one that is fraught with rabbit holes.

Imagine the question “Are you Happy?” It seems simple and if you said yes, you might be telling the truth, or you may be lying or lying to yourself. Then you go to a concert, event, or a slice of another life and your perspective changes. Nothing may have changed about your situation, but are you happy? No. We you lying? No.

Imagine talking to someone and they ask you an uncomfortable question. Even a simple uncomfortable question. You avoid by glazing over the truth to not hurt their feelings. What is the truth? Is the truth important?

Perhaps the statement the truth is not overrated plays it safe as it states the importance of the truth, but does not set an in stone guideline. Perhaps it sets a stage where the truth is important, but there is a flexibility to those situations where people may be hurt or another solution is necessary.

Why does it matter? Today there are things going on all over the world. There are many “truths” but as we walk down the valley of the shadow of truth there are lots of perceived truths that are less than truth, and we have to decide how to read them, how to follow them, and how to avoid the dares being set upon us all. My only suggestion today is define your truth well, as it may not be as much a truth as you think and in the process, dare to open your mind to more.

So as the sun sets on another day, life is an amazing ride, and the truth can guide us through it. Dare to find the truth or listen for the truth that is there. After all, truth may open our minds, but so do less than truths along the way. Take the time to see from someone else’s perspective realizing there are lots of true things that make up the truth and changing a view may change what is truth. Mostly, be true to you, and find a way to be who you want to be, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love deeply, and dare to see more…

Sundays are for book reviews: Week Ending 04-09-2022

IT has been a more fun week. Retraining myself ion some ways as spring unfolds. In the midst of it all I am back reading heavily, and getting past grief. This week my books read are:

14 Dark Windows – Dyson, Scott – ****

Die Trying (Jack Reacher, #2) – Child, Lee – *****

Human Psychology 101: Understanding The Human Mind And What Makes People Tick – Fields, Alan G. – ***

ITAR International Traffic In Arms Regulation – Department of State, U.S. – ***

Learn to Read Microexpression : The Tiniest Body Language to know what others are thinking! – Tom Brooks – ***

Both the fields and the brooks books were ok books, but there was nothing new in either. I would suggest you read them if you are unfamiliar with the subject.

If it is going to be…

The sun sets on another day…

It was an interesting sunset. As I watched glancing often at the passenger window the sky lit up with fire and life, and I smiled for a moment knowing the world was an amazing adventure, and I was enjoying the ride.

I was reminded a short time ago about a quote my father used to use: “If it is going to be it is up to me”. It seems like a simple quote but it can go deeper down a rabbit hole quickly. I spent some time thinking about how much we look to others for our solutions, and really don’t embrace the idea of solving our own issues.

If you search 29000 sunsets you will find the quote from my father mentioned a few times, but you will find the idea of defining ourselves mentioned far more. It is here we should consider today, and here where the veil will perhaps open. You are responsible for only one person in the universe: you.

I will interject here while some of you agree with me and others feel your heads spin off with disagreement. Sure, you have kids and sub responsibilities, and there are a lot of people who care and try and sometimes succeed at helping others in difficult and unique situations. Sure there are semi pseudo exceptions that make you consider how important taking care of someone is, and there are other exceptions where someone is dependent on you but the reality is, you are responsible for you. You cannot effectively change another relatively normal persons mind effectively as they are they and you are you.

If you think about it for just a moment (agree or disagree) we should be taking more responsibility for ourselves and showing a path for others to follow, not necessarily trying to control the world or situation. If we do so, and take responsibility for ourselves, perhaps then we can open our minds to more, perhaps then we can help others see, but realize they will find their own way.

It is worth considering.

So as the sun sets on another day, if it is going to be, it is up to me. Sure, I can use some help and I can help others, but I am the master of my destiny, and you of yours. Let’s find a path together that words and make our days an amazing journey, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love with a passion beyond belief, and make the world yours…

All full…

The sun sets on another day…

Sunset was, well, I am not sure. It may have been awesome, but it may have been less than awesome. It was certainly cold and less than nice outside. The sky though was lit up as I drove home from a dinner.

I wish I could end all misunderstandings easily. It will not happen though. The world is full of people looking for glasses half full, half empty, all empty, 3/4 empty and a host of other statements built around the idea that “woe is me” for a moment.

Here is the reality. Your glass is always full.

Really? It is not, I don’t have everything I want today. I want more. I have not gotten what I need today. I need more. We hear that a lot huh?

People who say that are of course right. We can only handle what we handle. Still, if we take a second and look at the world a little differently I think we will find that we fill our own glass to our own height. No one or nothing decides how full our glass is except us. With that in mind I can only say that on my darkest days my glass is as full as I let it be. How about you?

So as the sun sets on another day, maybe it is time for a bigger glass, or maybe we need to get rid of the glass. Maybe we just need to have our best day each day not because of the world, but in deference to the world. We can decide, and I hope you have the best day ever, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love with all your heart, and stop emptying your glass…

The sun sets on another day…

A little Poem for the day:

If at first your don’t succeed, Listen
Tis a lesson short and sweet, Listen
When your sad and feeling down, don’t flap your lips and find the sound, Listen

When your day is getting weird, Listen
Open wide and then just hear, Listen
When you think you know it all, it is then you will surely fall, Listen

The time is here and it is now, Listen
You don’t need to ever have a cow, Listen
When laughter strikes or weirdness falls you can understand it all, Listen

and when you do the world will open for you.

I wish more people would listen, but I know some do. Make your day the best day ever and listen to all the wonderful things around you, no matter what.

Sleep sweet, love life, and keep listening…
